Some turtle species tolerate the presence of another turtle but turtles are not social creatures and do not seek one another’s company unless to breed. Since humans are social creatures, this can be hard for us to understand; but no, your turtle appreciates being alone.

All the sliders live a bit social, even large groups. oikoo has a point though, lacking plenty of room, there can be a dominance thing.
I don't think they get lonely, but too small a tank, little for them to explore, they can get a bit depressed.

Just the reverse. Place more than one in a tank and they will have to determine dominance. If the tank isn't large enough, this means fighting.
