Is there a way to test a crankshaft position sensor without removing it and using a multimeter?

For a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix

Use a cheap OBD2 code reader.

The engines computer checks it. If it codes check the connector first for corrosion. If ok change the sensor.

Not very often. Gm and Nissan crank sensors are famous for problems and no codes.

Yes but you need an oscilloscope.
