We dated in person first, then he got transferred. The LDR lasted about a year and a half. Would have lasted only 3 months, but we were engaged to be married and I wasn't about to let go all that easily.
Total misery, unhappiness, torture, uncertainty, fear.
We only get 10% of content when we communicate long-distance, so misunderstandings and misinterpretations crop up and with only 10% communication, there is NO way to clear them up (what matters are those subtle non-verbal signals we can only pick up on when together in person .. those that show the emotions and the intention and the sincerity .. without them, distrust springs up).
Slowly the relationship will fall apart, like sand through your fingers, and you cannot do a thing to save it.
Will NEVER do it again.
Btw, for guys, they get together for sex or the hope of sex. So if you are far away, they WILL find a woman in their area to touch, hug, and maybe have sex with.
Now, if this is an LDR and you have not been with them in person, then the relationship is 90% fantasy. Even if you had steadily dated them for a couple of years - in person - it takes that long to START to know someone for real.
