Given that these are average this means half the Chefs and half the Cooks make a bit more than this and half make a bit less than this.

In a large "professional" kitchen there may be 1 head chef and many cooks assigned to various posts.

- Manages a team of cooks and other kitchen staff under him.

- Plans the daily/weekly menu, delegates responsibilities, and supervises performance of kitchen staff

- Designs recipes.

Cook:

- Amateur or professional, depending on experience.

- No formal training or certification.

- Follows instructions.

- Assists the chef in his/her endeavors.

A chef is responsible for the management of a brigade inside a kitchen. This part only happens in professional kitchens. Chefs are team captains who depend on star players to score goals. A chef's job is not to score, it's their job to make sure others do.

In all honesty "cooks" usually are people that prepare more than become elaborate with dishes

But to all the normal's, cooks and chefs do the same thing

A chef is the professional head of a kitchen, with assistants under him. Anyone who cooks can call themselves a cook, but if you are employed as a cook this is probably in a lesser establishment than a restaurant.

  boy are you full of chit. You clearly have never worked in any professional kitchen. ANY institutional cook makes several courses from scratch,many many restaurant cooks do it all from scratch as well.
