THERE is one outstanding clue to the existence of a Creator that we all carry around with us. Can We Know Whether There Is a God?

    The Bible’s answer

Yes, the Bible provides compelling evidence that God exists. It encourages us to build faith in God, not by blindly believing religious assertions, but by using our “power of reason” and “mental perception.” (Romans 12:1; 1 John 5:20, footnote) Consider the following lines of reasoning based on the Bible:

The existence of an orderly universe containing life points to a Creator. The Bible says: “Of course, every house is constructed by someone, but the one who constructed all things is God.” (Hebrews 3:4) Although this logic is simple, many well-educated people find it to be powerful. *

As humans, we have an innate desire to understand the meaning and purpose of life, a type of hunger that can remain after our physical needs have been met. This is part of what the Bible calls our “spiritual need,” which includes the desire to know and worship God. (Matthew 5:3; Revelation 4:11) This spiritual need not only gives evidence that God exists but also indicates that he is a loving Creator who wants us to satisfy that need.—Matthew 4:4.

Detailed prophecies in the Bible were written centuries ahead of time and came true exactly as predicted. The accuracy and detail of those predictions strongly suggest that they came from a superhuman source.—2 Peter 1:21.

Planet Earth as seen from space

Bible writers had scientific knowledge that was beyond the understanding of their contemporaries. For example, in ancient times many peoples believed that the earth was supported by an animal, such as an elephant, a boar, or an ox. In contrast, the Bible says that God is “suspending the earth upon nothing.” (Job 26:7) Similarly, the Bible correctly describes the shape of the earth as a “sphere,” or “globe.” (Isaiah 40:22, footnote; Douay Version) Many people feel that the most reasonable explanation for such advanced understanding is that Bible writers received their information from God.

The Bible answers many difficult questions, the type of questions that when not satisfactorily answered can lead a person to atheism. For example: If God is loving and all-powerful, why is there suffering and evil in the world? Why is religion so often an influence for bad rather than for good?—Titus 1:16.

—Rom. 1:20. Perceptive people, therefore, use their mind, not just their eyes and ears. Jehovah’s organization has supplied many well-researched aids to help us. These can enable us ‘to see’ our Creator through our eyes of faith.

    Someone wrote:

"HUMANS generally define existence in terms of time, space, and matter."

But consider, An ultimate Creator must necessarily be unique, not dependent on any of these things, because he created them. Human definitions are not laws that must be obeyed by the universe, or by anything or any One over which humans do not have control.

Almighty God has set in place the most effective way in which we can approach him:

    Acts 17:26, 27

26 "And he made out of one man every nation of men to dwell on the entire surface of the earth, and he decreed the appointed times and the set limits of where men would dwell, 27 so that they would seek God, if they might grope for him and really find him, although, in fact, he is not far off from each one of us."

So we don't make the rules on how to approach our Creator. He makes them, because he is searching for those who will worship him in spirit and truth. John 4:23

Millions of people throughout the years have found him and have made efforts in faith to get to know him, serve him and obey him.

Other people tell lies about the one true God, because they are not willing to be accountable to him. The Israelites of Moses' day saw the ten plagues, crossed the Red Sea on dry ground, and saw the destruction of one of the most powerful armies of that time when the Red Sea drowned its soldiers. And yet, many of that generation refused to obey God's law, and even wanted to go back to Egypt rather than recognize their accountability to God.

Many people today deny that God exists, not because there is no evidence, but for the same reason that this faithless crowd had, who miraculously escaped slavery in Egypt. Many people do not want to acknowledge that their Creator exists, and that they are accountable to him, despite the preponderance of the evidence that he does exist.

We have to be willing to humbly, sincerely, honestly seek him, and he will let himself be found - and he is not far off from each one of us.

Michael, I agree - Love is the best evidence for the existence of God. If the world's life came about only because of survival of the fittest or natural selection, or even mindless chance, the result would be a completely loveless world. But despite issues to the contrary, real love does not die.

If you are speaking of the God of the Bible, then whether or not He exists is the wrong question.

From two verses I can demonstrate two things:

    1) God is.

    2) God is WITHOUT existence (Exception: John 1:1-14.)

Mankind generally defines existence in terms of time, space, and matter. The three are dependent upon each other.

Without time there would be no WHEN for space and matter to occur.

Without space there would be WHERE for time and matter to be.

Without matter, time and space become immeasurable.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning (TIME) God created the heaven (SPACE) and the earth (MATTER).

There is your time, space an matter.

Revelation 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and HIM that sat on it, from whose face the earth (MATTER) and the heaven (SPACE) fled away; and there was found no place for them.

In Revelation 20:11 space and matter are gone. There is no where for time to be, and it can not be measured. Existence is gone.

Yet HE (God v 12) still IS.

Therefore, if a person endeavors to validate God in terms of time, space and matter, it won't work.

Therefore, the question is not, "Does God exist?"

The question is, "How long does your existence have?"

"There's no evidence that God exists?"

    Correct.

God is just another word for Magic Man. Magic is not real therefore magic god fairies are impossible.

The Easter Bunny has the same problem. There could never be any evidence for magical creatures including god fairies and magical rabbits.

To that Source the acclamation goes: “You are worthy, Jehovah, even our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because you created all things, and because of your will they existed and were created.” (Re 4:11)

"No evidence Fallacy" AKA Argumentum ad ignorantiam: "There is no evidence of aliens, and therefore, aliens do not exist": is a major fallacy = Argument from ignorance.
