The current constitution of the United States is adequate as written, we are not in need of a new constitution
Over the years the constitution has been amended or legally interrupted by the courts as to it's meaning. This was one the reasons the constitution had the provisions of being amended and the procedures for these amendments.
In most countries if a new party or person is installed as the ruler of the country, they immediately rip up their constitution and write a new one. The constitution of the United States offer continuity of the government, and is able to be amended or additional
amendments be added if they are legally voted on by the congress and approved by a certain number of states.
In setting up this form of government, the original congress was never intended to have professional politicians. The original senators and congressmen took each summer off to attend their crops, and provide for their families and have a means of earnings. This has now become the summer recess taken by the senate and house.
Over the years congress has passed laws that would allow themselves to be paid with health care benefits. This form of government was not envisioned by the founding fathers.
If you or anyone else want to make a change to the makeup of congress in having term limits this must be a cause taken by the citizen of the United States. I agree with you, there need to be term limits for congressmen and senators.
If you and others like ourselves, we would have to pester our elected officials to enact term limits. If a sufficient enough citizen of the United States would contact their representatives terms limits would be addressed and eventually enacted.
We can stand on the sidelines, hope and wish. If this is all you do, nothing will ever happen. We need to become involved in the process
In addition to emailing or writing your representative, it might be to your benefit to start petitions of all your friends and neighbors. This is a concern of all citizen no matter the party affiliation.
I have written or emailed by senators and congressman each week, concerning this matter. I am planning to go into the partition phase in a short time.
Politicians only react to citizen taking action, they are reactors as oppose to being proactive.
My suggestion and position is a person would be able to serve a total of 6 years in both or one of the chambers of congress. Once they have served six years they would not be eligible to run for a house chamber for a period of 2 years. They would also not be able to become a lobbyist for the same period of time.
Also there would be no retirement or health care benefits once you are no longer a member of congress. Each person that run for congress almost say to a fault, I would do this job free as it a public duty.
Over the years it appears as if there is an adversary approach to the way the government is now being ran. In days of ole, there has been a two party system with a fringe of smaller parties. Once the elections are over, it was, in the past, to have both parties do what was good for the benefit of the United States.
This is no longer the practice of either party. Apparently it is now the practice of each party to only vote on bills proposed by their party.
I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.
