I have always done so - Starting as a sceptic looking for an excuse not
to be involved, I asked difficult questions - but received rational answers
backed by scripture. I made certain it was comfortably sound and true,
and it has been confirmed many times over since then, so long ago.
If you were "able to think critically" about your mass assumption you're
making about 2 billion + Christians you've never met - you would not be
asking such a foolish and brash question.
It is you non-Christian critics who are unable to comprehend our faith, as
you try to mind other people's business, but vital criteria are missing from
your rationale and mindset. Of the plethora of versions out there, the true
church is drawn to faith by the Spirit of God, guided by people who have
the Spirit of God, we study the scriptures inspired by the Spirit of God ~
and the depth and richness of that text can only be opened by the same
Spirit .. You do not have that privilege and never can, without a change of
attitude and some reverence and humility ~ concepts at odds with your
present mindset. You are absolutely unqualified to make any judgement
on matters of which you are outside and unable to perceive.
I have been privileged to both witness and experience some things that
are impossible to occur except by the hand of God .. things parallel to
similar phenomena recorded in scripture .. so beyond your experiences
and kept by God among His faithful people. (ie: none of your business)
God's church is sealed by the Spirit for His people, so regardless of the
notions that brew between your ears, His work continues on as planned.
If He should get on your case sometime later, you will know more about
it - and I hope, for your sake, that He may call you to faith some day, if
that is God's will for you. Until then, try to find yourself a meaningful life.
