You "CAN" serve whatever you want...shrimp fried rice topped with Doritos even. Now, is spaghetti a good choice? Depends on what concerns you most. If u want guests to leave saying that food was awesome! No, you can't serve spaghetti at your wedding. Why? It's messy and people will be uptight trying to eat anything with a high spill/mess/difficulty to eat factor. Spaghetti ties into that. Now, dinner at your house over the weekend...sure, your favorite couple would love to sit at your dinner table for that. However, when people are dresssed to the nines...they want food that's simple to fork or spoon or grab by hand and insert in mouth w/o fear of walking around with a stain all night. However, since your on a tight budget I assume(pasta is always the least expensive catering choice), do a ravioli...its easily forked, still messy, but easier.
