Players don't get individual awards for NFC and AFC championships. In fact there is no rule saying they that have to get rings for winning the Super Bowl. The team decides what the individual award will be, pays for them with an assist from the league of $5,000 each for 150 awards, and the team supplies the rest of the expense for however much the balance of the cost the owner decides it will be spending. No player on a championship team in any professional sport has ever gotten anything except a ring, though. Last Super Bowl, Patriots players and field staff rings cost $37,000 each and the office staff and others got rings that cost $6,600 each.
The 4-6 month wait is due to the time needed design and make all 150 rings.
