Many people do not understand that the Bible calls several persons God or god. Not only Jesus but angels, human judges, and even Satan the devil. This is true because "god" means "mighty one", and each of these persons mentioned is mighty in their capacity.
But there is only one ALMIGHTY God., and he is the Father of Jesus Christ, and Jesus himself said that he is his God and greater than he is - in power, in knowledge, and in authority.
People who say that they have received the message that Jesus is God in the sense that he is equal to his Father or IS his Father, and who say that they recieved this message from God, must remember that there are other spirits who can communicate in the world. The way you distinguish the true God from these lying spirits is if the message is in harmony with God's word the Bible. We know that the Bible is inspired by the real, Almighty Creator and God.
If the Bible says one thing and any messages received by men or taught by men say something else, then the God- inspired Bible has to be the authority.
If Jesus were in a trinity with his Father and co-equal with his Father and the holy spirit , co-eternal, uncreated, almighty, he would have said so. But Jesus said that his Father is greater than he is, and he did not do his own will, but the will of him that sent him. He always defers to his Father's will, even if it is different from his own. John 5:19. Matthew 26:39.
Even in heaven, Jesus' Father is his God. Revelation 3:2,12 You can't fit that fact into the false trinity doctrine, which was invented by humans and was even made a law centuries after Jesus left the earth.
There is only one Almighty God, and because that title is a superlative one, only one can be called by it. Jehovah is that one, the one whom Jesus worships. 1 Corinthians 8:6
For Jesus to be honored exactly as he actually is, is not disrespect, but deep respect for his role in our salvation, which he accepted because he obeys and wants to please his Father and God in all things. John 8:28,29 They are not rivals, they are in harmony with one another, and Jesus told us to pray that his FATHER'S will be done.
We honor Jesus best when we actually believe what he said, instead of twisting it to conform with a pagan based doctrine which he did not teach about his Father, himself as his Son, and the holy spirit. If we ignore what he said, and replace it with what we or some ancient emperors said, that is truly disrespecting and dishonoring Jesus.
John 5:19 Study Bible
19 Therefore, in response Jesus said to them: “Most truly I say to you, the Son cannot do a single thing of his own initiative, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things that One does, these things the Son does also in like manner.
39 And going a little way forward, he fell facedown, praying: “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me. Yet, not as I will, but as you will.”
John 8:28, 29
28 Jesus then said: “After you have lifted up the Son of man, then you will know that I am he+ and that I do nothing of my own initiative; but just as the Father taught me, I speak these things. 29 And the One who sent me is with me; he did not abandon me to myself, because I always do the things pleasing to him.”
