What are the explanations for industrialization? Why did industrialization have social consequences?

    Freedom, led to industrialization and industrialization led to more freedom.

    It is a vicious upward spiral ( in freedom and higher living standards) which liberals are trying desperately to stop.

    Oversimplified answers:

    1) technological innovation (most notably the steam engine)

    2) Industrialization changed how people lived, it allowed agriculture (most importanly) to increase output while needing fewer farmers, displaced farmers were then pushed to factories, which required them to move to cities
