yes, within reason. I dont think someone should shoot another person based on speculation that something could go wrong or in the many cases of police brutality. People are being shot and killed for driving a non registered vehicle or stealing a pack of gum from a convenience store, thats taking it too far.
If someone tries to attack or assault you or threatens your physical safety then I believe you should do whatever is in your means to protect yourself

not really, it doesnt say anything about defending yourself .. you have the right to bear arms with the understanding that the 'people' are in charge of this country .. not some rich politician that weaseled his way into a position he thinks is 'over' you ..

It was set up to defend the country, hence the well-regulated militia, then it devolved into protecting the citizen against the government, now it is further diluted to simple self-defense.
