Hardcore fans see the original Star Wars movies through rose colored glasses. They were by no means perfect movies. They were a lot of times cheesy, at some points confusing, and at other times predictable. Of course that didn't make them any less enjoyable- they deserve to be the classics that they are. My point is, they are setting the new movies to a standard that even the originals didn't uphold.
The Last Jedi had all of the (don't kill me for this, but maybe even less) flaws as the originals. WAY less than the prequels.
People need to take off the nostalgia goggles and enjoy The Last Jedi and The Force Awakening for what they are, not what they think they should be. If they don't like them even without the goggles, that's fine. But they can't act like the old movies were flawless and the new ones are awful just because they aren't the old ones. And they especially cannot put down others for enjoying what they can't!
This happens with every major franchise that is revitalized or continued years later and its getting really old.
