Yes. This is a string that draws the entire Bible together. Live God's way, accept Jesus, and live forever with them for eternity. He doesn't wish anyone perish.
Really, He offers a lot of His heavenly blessings in this life on earth as well. By putting selfish and unGodly ways to the side, and staying close to God's teaching and spirit, we gain some heavenly reward in the here and now. We gain His peace. We know we have eternal life. We gain His spirit guiding us. We have His love, wisdom, courage, and access to prayer. He literally makes thousands of promises to us that we can benefit from.
If we allow unGodly habits to keep us from accepting God and His treasures, they cost us way more than they could ever gain us.
But there is nothing He won't forgive us. He will take us as we are. If we accept Him and pursue Him and breathe in the scriptures as oxygen for our spirit (which it is), we soon lose our desire to sin. We don't want it anymore. It's no wonder the best addiction programs out there involve God. He and the scriptures are very healing.
Everything in this life wears out. Pleasure, power, getting away with things, drinking, everything. It becomes empty. Even good things are empty without loved ones to share them with. Everyone on their death beds wishes they would've prioritized love, honor, forgiveness, family, relationships, charity, and all that is pure and good. All the things their parents or grandparents or clergyman told them to from the start. But NO, we always think we have to test out the forbidden roads to prove them wrong. We'd have lived 10 times, 100 times better lives by staying on the straight and narrow, and putting our full faith and trust into every word of God. God's will for our lives is always better than our own. Think about that. All our goals and dreams will fall way short of simply living for God, putting our skill and talent into doing unto others, helping and healing for His sake. We always liked lending a hand and making a difference. We just didn't realize that IS our life, our very purpose... and by focusing on that alone, we attain that abundant life that is way beyond what billionaires and kings and movie stars find. They tend to find trouble and brokenness despite power. We find fulfillment and love and honor and wonderful families and friends.
Deep down, we knew it all along. : )
