Would you ever buy this if Sony were to release it?
So here's the thing, what if Sony were to release a new console that essentially is like a more modern day HD version of the PS2 console?
By that, I mean this new console is going to be able to play PS1 and PS2 games (Both physical and Digital copies), so if you happen to have the game's disc then you can pop it into the optical drive, or if you had purchased it on the PS3's version of the PS Store, then you can download it and play it.
It can also connect to the PS Store, and play the apps like YouTube, Netflix, Crackle, etc., also you can play back media files such as video, music and picture files on this console.
It would also have a hard drive to save the files, and a optical drive that reads CD, DVD, and BluRay.
So essentially, it'll be like the original PS3, but it's just that it lacks the PS3 backwards capability because the intention of this console is to allow us to play older games from the 90's to mid 2000's but still be able to use a more modern stuffs like BluRay, Netflix, etc.
PS. Unless if the servers for popular games like Star Wars Battlefront were back up, no, it doesn't have online multiplayer.
