Avery bad call, mama will be stressed enough not counting possible cannibalism. If the pups eyes are open and weaned, mama can rejoin her friends.
Nursing, they should be in a roomy warm nursery, nest box, food station for mama, and some ample room mama can getaway from the nest. Quiet and little disturbance, no bright lights. 80* F is best.
The pups need warmth until 3 weeks, and gender separated at 4 weeks. At that point they can fend for themselves.
At two to 3 weeks you can handle the pups and socialize them, makes taming go very easy.just remember they will be at the hoppy stage and lack self preservation, they will cheerfully jump from hands to their doom. be careful of falls.
By 6 weeks males may need further separating or fighting can begin, generally, males have to live alone or neutered can do nicely with females.
That first week under mamas care is the most vital to their survival and development of their immune system.
Pups can be handled at this point presuming mama is trusting, but should be as needed and not suggested unless you have good dexterity and motor skill. Too strong a grip can injure or kill these delicate babies.
Hope this helps.
