You can tell by the thickness, lined or not, there are that I was looking @ yesterday, starts about $20 Made in China (of course!) They stretch, of course, and they're THICKER than those sold @ Walgreens ($7.99). It's not about the brands, it's about the material, weight, thickness, and feel. I saw several styles & fabric content yesterday. I didn't buy them, because they were ALL TOO LONG, for 5'2" person! The ones I wanted comes with ankle bands and some you can cut off & re-hem, but I'm too lazy, so I'm shopping around.
There are thousands of different brands of leggings in the world, hundreds of various colors mainly dark colored ones, and millions of stores & shops that sell them.
Marshall's & TJ Maxx alone carries 25 different styles, and brands. But not all size smalls fits ALL. I'm a size medium, but they usually fit like extra small size! Trying them on is the key. If they're in a package and they've been opened, they may not want to return or exchange them. JCP does! Then there are different fabric materials, some are thin almost see-thru, and can run easily, and there are thick ones like tights. Another buyer beware!
Recently, I found a perfect leggings, that’s for 5’2”, and no camel toes. The size was XL, and it fits like skinny jeans, very warm, very comfortable, very soft. I’m a normal medium. It’s got 2 gold zippers on each side front, like pockets, it gives the ‘couture’ look. They don't shrink, since they're not made of 100% cotton.
