If you want to understand why theists can accept that there is a superior even Sovereign Source of the Universe here is an exercise.
Starting from where you are, reason yourself out of existence. You know that you exist. You have proof of that when you look in the mirror or fall or eat. You are real.
Now work backwards from that point and reason yourself out of existence. If you do it well and right you will come to a point where you MUST stop. It is insane to go any further. You do exist, but how? What is functioning to allow you as an individual to exist. You might even take a good look at your own body, how perfectly it is made. (Look at your body, not what your limited intellect has done to it.) Eventually, you must ask some very deep questions that scientists have yet to answer. Do take a good look at the cell structure. Then expand that to look at the cellular structure of all living matter.
There are laws that govern all of these things. Laws that scientists recognize are unchangeable and cannot be changed by the most brilliant of human minds.
Most scientist especially those who have dealt with universal law will emphatically say that there is a Higher and Greater Power beyond all we see, know, even think.
The 'modern' word for this is Source. Without the existence of Source, verified by universal immutable laws, all things would cease to exist.
Paul an apostle of Jesus Christ had this to say about your line of questioning::
(Romans 1:18-20) For God’s wrath is being revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who are suppressing the truth in an unrighteous way, 19 because what may be known about God is clearly evident among them, for God made it clear to them. 20 For his invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable.
(Romans 1:21, 22) For although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God nor did they thank him, but they became empty-headed in their reasonings and their senseless hearts became darkened. 22 Although claiming they were wise, they became foolish
God is constantly reaching out to those who do not know Him:
.(Acts 17:22-28) Paul now stood in the midst of the Ar·e·opʹa·gus and said: “Men of Athens, I see that in all things you seem to be more given to the fear of the deities than others are. 23 For instance, while passing along and carefully observing your objects of veneration, I found even an altar on which had been inscribed ‘To an Unknown God.’ Therefore, what you are unknowingly worshipping, this I am declaring to you. 24 The God who made the world and all the things in it, being, as he is, Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in handmade temples; 25 nor is he served by human hands as if he needed anything, because he himself gives to all people life and breath and all things. 26 And he made out of one man every nation of men to dwell on the entire surface of the earth, and he decreed the appointed times and the set limits of where men would dwell, 27 so that they would seek God, if they might grope for him and really find him, although, in fact, he is not far off from each one of us. 28 For by him we have life and move and exist, even as some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his children.’
