Can you still write a song if you don't really play an instrument?

Absolutely! I created a music lately and my brother, which is a musician (trumpet), had to play it for me.
I barely know the music notes, that is how I have been able to put my music on a sheet. However I wasn't capable to play it.
Some years ago, I written a song, but without the music this time.
Music normally is not my job, since I'm only a painter / illustrator.

A few singers that don't play instruments do compose lyrics and melody, and enlist help working out the accompaniment.  It takes quite a strong sense of rhythm, melody, and phrasing.  Among non-musicians, writing only the lyric is much more typical.

Definately* Some ppl can't sing..or play any instrument but are awesome Song Writers* :) Go for it* if that's your talent* that's awesome* then get the right singer n band together n they can play your songs you've written* :)

Yes. I play guitar but I'm not very good at it. Doesn't mean I don't understand music theory. For me the song writing comes easy but performing it is hard.
