would 4.01 x 10^-12 kg convert to 4.01 x 10^9 g or 4.01 x 10^15 g? or neither?
Update:
I meant 10^-9 or 10^-15 not positive

1 kg = 1000 g = 10^3 g
4.01 x 10^-12 kg x 10^3 g/kg
= 4.01 x (10^-12 x 10^3) g
When you multiply the two powers of ten, you *add* the exponents:
= 4.01 x 10^(-12 + 3)
= 4.01 x 10^-9
Grams are a smaller unit than kilograms, so it makes sense that you would have more of them (i.e. 10^-9 is 1000 times as big as 10^-12.)
Answer:
4.01 x 10^-9 grams

remember there are 1000 g in 1 kg
Hence
4.01 X 10^-12 kg X 100 = 4. 01 X 10^(-12+3) g
= 4.01 x ^(-9) g
So neither of your suggested answers is correct!!!!

There is 1000 grams in a kilogram...Therefor 4.01 X 10^(-12) kg ( 1000g / 1kg) = 4.01 X 10^(-9) g
