Your connection is not private error?

I am trying to enter a site that I have visited many times before but today I have been shown this message every time (see pic).

The time and date on my laptop are fine, I have emailed the website who say that everything is fine their end.

What can I do to solve this?

I am on Windows 8 using Chrome.

I've tried googling it but to no avail.

Sites that you visit many times should be entered from your favorites list, not by typing in their address from memory. Once this is done and works a few times when you get the scary screen look for the option to trust the site or view and accept the certificate.

The site may have added https:// with a self signed certificate or the certifying contractor to ICANN may have expired the certificate pending the payment of a sizable annual fee.
