Why are the most educated and happiest countries in the world running socialist governments?

If you look at the top countries to live in with the most educated and happiest citizens, you would find that all of them are running left leaning socialist governments with some capitalism mixed in. All of these nations actually care about the welfare of their citizens and take care of them via nationalized healthcare and other social programs. They also invest heavily in education as shown by their literacy rates. Why do conservatives say that socialist policies don't work when all of the countries ranked ahead of us are proving it does? What does this mean?

  • Don't listen to the other people's crap answers. A socialist country is that of a country which combines both democratic and communist principles/foundations. A socialist country is what most democratic countries are moving for including capitalist countries such as the United States and other western countries. In a socialist country, for example, railroads are owned by the government while in pure capitailist countries they are privatley owned (old America). Sociast countries still offer freedom of speech, religon etc... Countries with names such as Democratic Socialst Republic of blah blah blah are not socialist at all and are communist like the USSR (United Soviet Socialist Republic)

most of their money is spent on welfare and social structure.More democracy is in their system and the Parliamentary system has less deadlock than the presidential one....it is also based on popularity...not a winner take all system.Lobbying is not really a dictating system as it is in the United States. Their education systems are also very successful as well as their healthcare. Socialism is what capitalism can never be...and the United States will realize this when things get really bad

Because they are doing the right thing by their people. American conservatives are holding this country back with their love of backward traditions that don't do anything for people. Obstinacy, greed and selfishness Is no way to run a country.

Because tiny little countries smaller than our states can handle it. But throw in millions of square miles and hundreds of millions of people and the money pool becomes corrupt.

    That is why.

This is it folks. This is really the loony mentality of your average liberal. They think they are so smart and so enlightened but they are just mindless drones. And they would be happy if we were mindless drones like them..

Check your terminology. Socialist is extreme left wing, as Fascist is extreme right.

The US is right wing but has not yet pushed so far right it's a fascist state. (give it time, it will one day)

Canada, is left of centre but is moving right towards the USA. Other countries in the west are following suit.

Why? Because capitalism breeds fascism. Corporatism is a function of all right wing countries and all are in debt.

The US is far from being a socialist nation. Just because certain nations are slightly left does not mean the people are happy. They have learned to make do with less. In far left wing countries, true Communist countries are slowly evolving with right wing tendacies. Russia is an excellent example as is China.

The closer to centre, the more stability, the farther right is a brutal dictatorship and fear, the far left is brutal dictatorship and fear.

America is going the opposite way towards Nazism.

Free Market Social Democracy dominates the entire world. It includes almost every country in the world except for Cuba and North Korea. The differences between the US or any other country are mostly in the GDP, and the robustness of their social safety net

  • Funny, the right will call those policies "socialist" and compare them to Gulags when you try to introduce them in the USA, but insist they aren't socialist when you point to statistics like these. Anyways...

The simple reason is that these countries make education, happiness and health a priority and construct their programs to achieve those priorities. In the USA the approach is to assume that happiness, education and wellbeing will be by-products of the biggest priority: profitable business. This isn't always the case.

It also helps that those countries have high GDPs.

ok tell me abou their populations...

    ...how diverse is their culture?

...what are their immigration standards like?

..how many immigrant families move there and become multi-millionare businessmen like they've done in the USA for centuries?

...how successful will I be there if I refuse to learn their language or obey their laws?

... might want to consider all those things before telling me what "conservative" means....
