Spanish: masculine or feminine help?
I want to say 'weirdo' - 'el bicho raro'. The character I am describing is a female. Would I change the phrase to 'la bicha rara' or not?
Also would the word for athlete change from 'atleta' for a male?

Esther got it right, indeed. "La bicha rara" doesn't sound good at all.
It's like "cabra loca" (someone who doesn't think before acting). The two words are feminine, but you would not say "cabro loco" to describe a man, just "cabra loca"
"Él es un cabra loca" or even "Él es una cabra loca"/ "Ella es una cabra loca"
"Él es un bicho raro"/ "Ella es una bicho raro" or even "Ella es un bicho raro" (it sounds even better than "una bicho raro")
