Both have been equally disappointing. Fewer people realize just how much Kaepernick's been struggling because of his team's record. Those few who ARE aware give him a pass because of Crabtree's injury. I think RG3 is doing pretty well for himself considering that the Redskins are giving up more points in the first half than almost any team in the league. Washington was in this position last year (4-6 through 10 last year, 3-7 this year) and he was given lots of accolades for leading the team back to win the division. But Kaepernick had higher expectations coming into the year. RG3 was heavily criticized for taking big hits rather than stepping out of bounds. And I never heard anybody ever say that RG3 had a better arm than Kaepernick. Kaepernick was a more disciplined RG3 with a better arm who would be more likely to succeed on the field in the event that the opponent shut down the run.

To me, Kaepernick has been much more disappointing than RG3.

@Chalise, this is NOT Kap's 3rd year. He started with the 9ers last year, 2012, approx mid season.

It is only a few weeks ago that he has had ONE full season with the 9ers. So no, not a Sophomore or 3rd year QB.

@Chalise update: I am aware of the draft year but one can only go on how much he has actually played on the field, not by how many years he has been in the NFL, up till now, that has been just over one season.

Alex Smith with the 9ers, his first 5-6 years was horrid, wasn't until the last season and a half or 2 that he started playing better and that is when Harbaugh came around. So counting someone like KAP and RG3 out so early on is a bit premature.

So Lee Everett, there is really only one to compare as a sophomore but if you go on stats to this point and time of the season:

    RG3:

    1 Sep 9 PHI 30 49 61.2 329 6.7 2 2 5 24 4.8 0 0

    Kap:

    11 Nov 17 @NO 17 31 54.8 127 4.1 2 1 3 25 8.3 0 0

RG3 barely squeaks by with averaged out better stats then Kap.

While both teams are not where we thought they would be at the beginning of the season, Kaepernick is not returning from a serious injury but both RG3 or Colin Kaepernick have found themselves playing on a team that has totally reinvented their playbooks. Neither RG3 or Colin Kaepernick is totally to blame for what is going down. RG3 is still not as mobile but returning to form fast and Colin is lacking support from the coach by confining him to being a pocket passer.

    Biggest Disappointment - Jim Harbaugh

Eric Danielsan - You're seeing this pretty much like I have. Kaepernick and RG3 are not their teams biggest problems, it goes deeper than that.

Kaepernick. He was supposed to be San Fran's quarterback of the future but he's been the absolute worst passer in the league since Week 2. The passing game is what drives the league now and the Niners are going into gunfights with a pea shooter. Kaepernick won't be the starter much longer.

I think Robert Griffin III has been worse QB but I expected more from Colin Kapernick than he has shown so far. At least because RG3 was coming off a serious knee injury and had no off season to work with his weapons. What's Colin's excuse?

For me, it has to be Robert Griffin III because he is a former Heisman Trophy and NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award winner. I cannot believe that he is playing that poorly.

However, it depends on their work ethic during every offseason. If Griffin III, Colin Kaepernick, and Cam Newton work hard and perform very well in practice every day, they will greatly improve their chances of becoming elite NFL quarterbacks in the future.

I would have to say Kaepernick... RG3 has somewhat of an excuse coming off a season ending injury from last year.....

RG3 is the bigger dissappointment since he had all the hype. Hes played pretty horrific this year. At least Kaepernick has his team with a winning record.

Griffin has the excuse of coming back from a serious injury, Kaepernick doesn't.

I think the Niners have reined in Kaepernick's game this year, to keep him from getting injured. Last year, after Kaepernick got the starting job, the Niners had the luxury of having Alex Smith as their backup QB.

This year, with no good backup QB, they can't (or won't) let Kaepernick play his game.

I agree with Steve195. Griffin came off of a pretty bad knee injury and historically it seems to take QB's a bit of time to get back into playing form. It took Brady some time to get back into the swing of things in 2009 so Griffin gets a bit of a longer leash for me. Kaepernick....not sure what happened. Maybe he just isn't as good as everyone who put him in Canton last year thought he was. It's still to early to tell in fairness to him what kind of player he actually is and will be.
