Confusing recipe measurement?

This breaded shrimp recipe makes 8 servings but I decided I want to try one serving instead, the automated recalculation says I need 1/8 egg beaten. How do you get 1/8 egg?

I don't try recipes often so please don't get mad if it's an obvious answer.

    You break an egg and beat it. If you are terribly particular, you could then measure it and divide it into half, then half into half again(fourths) and again into an eighth. I would just use as much egg as seemed appropriate. If you are dipping your shrimp into egg and then into breading crumbs, it does not matter at all. Just allow the excess egg to drip off each shrimp before adding the breading.

    You still have to make the batter properly and either save or waste the excessive amount.
