1. Yes, my mom breastfed us both.
2. One year, when l decided to wean on my own apparently. With my sister, she was exposed to a serious disease at work (nurse) and had to start a prophylactic antibiotic for a month when my sister was 4 months old. Had to switch to bottle.
3. She neither encouraged or discouraged. Having done both, she was very matter-of-fact if l asked her anything, but she didn't pressure either way.
4. We nursed as long as we could, but not very long. Son couldn't nurse well at all and wasn't diagnosed fast enough. About a month full-on (miserable and he was starving), another month with heavy supplementing.
Not sure how much influence my mom was. But she was definitely a big help when troubleshooting though. She kept telling me that something was wrong, that my instincts about it not being a supply problem were spot-on, and that l should keep hunting for a lactation consultant who would actually believe me. (Amazing how hard it is to convince some LCs that not all problems are a supply problem!)
