    answer: We do? Because there's usually more than one answer, especially in religion. In asking a question we find out where the asker's mind set is and what they are meaning by the question, that narrows things down.

    There is usually a good answer for that and the answer is something you already know.

    The idea is that the asker is on a search for discovery and when someone (not necessarily Jewish) asks the asker a question, it is to aid the asker on their journey.

    Wisdom.

    If an answer given today is found to be different than what one considers giving tomorrow the answer given yesterday is not one that one can be held liable for.

    Who says we do ? No, it is not always true. Sometimes it is done to clarify the question, sometimes it is only stereotypical, other times it is to play into the stereotype.
