Conference league players make about £200 - £300 a week, if that. That's why most of them have second jobs.

    Oliver's not far off.

Wages have increased in recent years, with clubs these days trying to prepare financially for League 2.

The highest earners in the division will be earning over £1,000, but the average is around £500 a week, which isn't much less than the League 2 average. It's rare by now for Blue Square Premier players to have second jobs.

Yup, most earn an average working mans wage; however, some clubs (particularly the bigger ones relegated from the league proper - Grimsby, Luton, Wrexham, Oxford, Stockport, Lincoln and formerly Oxford, York and Chester who gained promotion recently), have stayed professional clubs so the players earn more and can commit to full time training rather than take second jobs.
