Authors like Michael Grant or books like Gone?

My friend has literally read all of his books, and I was thinking as a Christmas present I could buy her a similar type book. Any suggestions? Thanks!

BZRK, also by Michael Grant, is very good.

Stephen King is suitable for older readers, and his stories have a very similar tone and outlook to Michael Grant's series.

Skulduggery Pleasant is a little more childish, and more humour-oriented, but it is just as scary and it has large bouts of macabre black comedy/horror.

A lot of post-apocalyptic books are very good, such as the Dark Inside or Partials. KA Applegate's Remnants series was co-written by Michael Grant, and he and Applegate are married. They have very similar tones and characters.

    I hope this helped somewhat.
