Why do people verbally attack each other over difference in opinions?

Why can't people just accept that their opinion isn't FACT and other people have opinions too?

Because they allow their ego to get in the way and also cannot detach themselves emotionally from the issues that they are passionate about.

Well, people generally have thick skulls and persist with their opinions to the point of verbally attacking a person. It is also possible that people just talk very passionately about their opinions. Also, it is quite difficult to give up ones opinion, also to not express it when somebody has a differing opinion.

I couldn't agree more with you, but at the same time, our past is what diffines our opinions. What happens in our youth, how were raised in our developing years is how we form and sculte this opinions. You never know whats happened in a persons past, and some very tramatic things do happen. Some topics are more personal then you may think, and hence, there opinions will be strong and steadfast. Whats more, empathy is a hard quality for a lot of people to use or mimic, after all, were only raised in 1 life, we only see from our own eyes, so its hard for us to see where people are coming from, or why they might think what they think.

Because if we accepted other peoples opinions than we would be saying ours is wrong. I agree it's stupid but thats just the way the cookie crumbles.
