how can we limit southern european yet we can't limit eastern european immigration?

last week frank field, the government poverty adviser said immigration from eastern europe should be capped to holt poverty in Britain, government said no, yet this week admit they are drawing up plans to cap immigration from southern european states in the event of an influx due to the euro crisis..

what gives it doesn't add up?

"The Government is drawing up plans for emergency immigration controls to curb an influx of Greeks and other European Union residents if the euro collapses, the Home Secretary discloses today."

no no eu law allows for caps for internal migration. eu law doesn't need changing at all.

Update 2:

dm style lie? it's a direct story from comments the home secretary made.

Update 3:

ha ha.. yeah dot..

This report is just a lie. But it makes a good 'Daily Mail' style headline.

If Greece does not leave the EU we cannot stop Greeks from entering the UK by LAW.

Unless the civil servants in the home office know that the UK is leaving the EU, but that is another matter.

An influx of Greeks, well most would head for Cyprus and Italy first. Some of the rich would come to the UK ..Great!

Their illegals (there are said to be lots) would go all over the place and England's benefit culture is world famous.

since the law is that Europeans have freedom of movement, it can't be stopped without a change in the Euro law. It's just BS anyway, remember the governments pledge to immediately cap immigration from outside the EU? did they ever do that? No!

We can't and the government knows it. Greece is part of the EU and her people are perfectly entitled to come here because of freedom of movement within the EU. These mealy mouthed words are just platitudes to keep people quiet.WTF these people are going to live and work is anyones guess but one good thing is, they don't like Albanians and Bulgarians so maybe they might sort that little problem out for us!

You can bet though, that the government will not help any Brits coming back here to live. Just like they turned their back on white farmers having to flee Zimbabwe.

The government should limit the lot....But doesn't....leaving the euro is not leaving the EU. Look at all the Eastern Europeans we have swelling the pickpocket numbers in London.....not euro but EU....God help us for this short sighted unfair system....we lose a few retirees to spain and get flooded with unemployable, uneducated and often dishonest from the four corners of Europe. Not fair exchange and certainly robbery.....of individuals and the benefit and other services.

Look who is starring you.......bless him he cared enough to do it twice....must be hard pretending to be in Portugal while sweltering in the Liverpool shouldn't laugh but who does he think he is kidding?

The fact is that the government have no control whatsoever on who enters or leaves UK territory. Thanks to the treacherous Gordon Brown those matters are now decided not by elected ministers of the crown but by faceless and un-sackable bureaucrats in Strasbourg and Brussels. The Abu Qatada omnishambles proves that.

Probably because Eastern Europes more of a shithole haha and it would seem rude to not allow them to have a 'new opportunity'. I agree with the other guy that we should at least freeze immigration for a while.

Possibly there is an 'arrangement' with the muslims. Oil money? Or oil availability, bribing or government peoples retirement funds? Who knows where the link is? A 'loyal' citizen could spill the beans and get it in the newspapers.

Somebody is privy to this 'inside' info.

Its all a question of expediency. the beliefs, morals and ethics of politicians blow with the wind like straw and dry weeds. It all depends what the party line is today.
