Sun-Tzu said that "a military force has no constant formation" What about the spartans fighting technique?

Did they not constantly fight with the same style, (the interlinked shields) protecting one another, making themselves impenetrable whilst being able to attack at the same time?

The Spartans were expert of the phalanx formation. The phalanx formation has now developed into the modern United States military formation.

In the phalanx, the strongest or the leader will be on the right as everybody will line up on his left. As the formation move, the phalanx tend to shift right. This is why the strongest man or the leader is on the right. That person will hold the entire formation into place so it will not break. In modern days, our squad leaders are on the right as we all fall to his/her left. Well this was the theory how we got that idea.

The key to defeating the phalanx, which many leaders have figure out in the past, is to either attack from the rear or the flanks (commonly right). Having push a lot of pressure on the right flank will cause the phalanx to break apart. So it was eventually not so impenetrable.

Ah, Sun-Tzu would have likely worn down and beaten the Spartans. Mobility and flexibility to changes is key. Weren't the Spartans beaten by a thrust to the rear from Xerxes?

Dumb enough to attack a phalanx front on? One deserves the chopping.

ok, they were trained for military, usually from 5-late teens you think that they didn't plan for changes in the battle? if they didn't then they were arrogant and depending on combat prowess and numbers alone. and NOTHING is impenetrable.

Spartans were not impenetrable, as most were totally homosexuals.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.
