why is america so anti english?

not just in new films but even overall attitudes.

for example Gary McKinnon will get a very heavy handed sentence in USA even though he is clearly suffering a known mental affliction.

would it not be better to have a slap on the wrist and then hire the man who hacked into usa most secret sites?

who better for example to teach about break in in's than a real burglar etc

wonder how this will turn out in a few years ? film? book? look at film 'catch me if you can' for a real world example of an american abusing usa monetary system. he at least got a job working with the government to resolve and prevent such problems.

surely a more humane and responsible attitude? or will we get a severe sentence designed to try and frighten others away ( will fail eg China Russia alreadytargetingg usa etc)

Because, you Brits for the most part hate us, and I don't know about you but personally I find it difficult to like someone that genuinely hates me because of my culture. Also you guys also come across basically like the French without the booze & sex. That being said I still like the UK, but I hate your laws and Politicians and especially your anti Americans for obvious reasons, Tony Blair and Winston Churchill being the exceptions. I'm also fond of British Music like Iron Maiden & Cradle of Filth, English tea is also pretty great.

The guy you are whinging over is a Scot, NOT English.

He's never been tried in the US, so any discussion over possible sentence(s) is unrealistic at this point.

His alleged medical condition would have to be judged in a US court, not in the media.

it isn't as such anti english. it is however very strong about its image and citizens. any thing deemed as offending will be acted on with an attitude of looking out for american interests. if an american offends? its seen as a lesser offence as being part of a great nation etc.

others and often english can be portrayed as ant american and hence get a higher reaction. partly due to historic reasons e.g. war of independence and mainly americans own media and self serving trumpet blowing. thus we see many examples such as the Enigma code machine facts ignored or twisted around to have america as saviour etc. anything other than american winners .in charge etc is seen as anti american and simply won't sell to american public on whole.

war films made in uk for example alway had to have an american star in charge ..posing as a canadian etc

otherwise american market simply won't watch.

such inward looking attitudes are nor helping it in wider world where many think their own countries are the best in the world.

aside from personal bias many suffer from USA remains a bastion of freedom and generosity overall. it has much to be admired and many friends in Uk.

Why do you think America is anti English? I don't know any Americans who are anti English. Most Americans are closet Anglophiles.
