# chemistry help - calculating the total error?

this is the question:

calculate the maximum error for each piece of apparatus, then the total overall apparatus error:

the error of the equipments: pipette: +/- 0.02 cm^3 and thermometer: +/- 0.1 degrees celcius

The total percentage error in the apparatus is equal to the sum of the individual percentage errors in the equipment.

The percentage error in a piece of equipment is equal to the error in it over the reading taken by it, x100.

For example, if you measured 25cm^3 of a solution with a pipette the percentage error would be 0.02/23 x 100.
