I can promise you that he did not put that in the instructions because it was ONLY done once (mainly because those were put on my Essay instructions starting in 2000 or so do to instant message language... And yes I use to use "text speak" but once "I" realized it was making me into a lazy writer I stopped. A lot of abbreviation become second nature and end up, on accident, in essays and homework and later on in resume's and applications, and when it comes to the "if you don't use it, you lose it" way our brains tend to work after you graduate if you only text you may forget a lot of the proper grammer you WILL need in the job market and for the rest of your life.
and when it comes to texting or instant messages i do still use some abbreviations but i stay a way from any that shorten a word by misspelling it (ex: R, U, Rly, Nite, Wud, Cud, Kewl) I will how ever use proper abbreviations ( ' til, gonna, K etc.) and of course TTYL and things of the sort because they are less likely to end up in a paper or other document on accident
myself a 21 year old texter, that has stopped using "text language" once i realized i forgot a lot of grammer and spelling rules :)
lol, and here is some proof if this doesn't look silly then you text too much :) because this is how some people will use and inappropriate times:
