why are the Llanelli Scarlets called the Turks?

All people from Llanelli are called Turks. I'm not sure what date the story originates from but there was a strike at Swansea docks and they would not let Turkish cargo ships in. The Turks then had to travel down the coast to Llanelli and dock there instead. Since then people from Llanelli have been know as Turks.

This is correct,as there was a trade embargo in place during Gallipoli in WWI,but Llanelli continued to trade with the Turks,it was a busy tin plate dock.So the Jacks started taking the Mickey by calling them Turks.
