Your question is a little vague, so I will give you both answers. This has been asked on Yahoo before. Yes, you can eat the Parrott fish that are found in the Florida Keys and Caribbean. Thet can be fried and taste good, but there is organized fishery in them as they don't school or shoal so are hard to catch.

If you mean't Parrot Cichlids, although not that distantantly related to Oscars and Peacock Bass that live in South America and are eaten, they they are too small to bother with. But you could eat one. Apparen tly cichids are at least as good as sardines or anchovies.

Due to additives in the aquarium and their chemical toxicity to humans when consumed, you should never eat any aquarium fish! Do you not notice the label "not for fish for human consumption" on the tap water conditioners, medications, foods, trace elements, etc? Eating one probably won't hurt you, but maybe it could depending on the element build up in the flesh of the fish.

Now if it was a wild fish, then yes (in any case fresh or saltwater).

I speared parrotfish in the Marshall Islands and ate them. By far my favorite reef fish. They have large scales. I removed the scales and gutted them. I preferred to cook in the oven with lemon juice and some garlic. The meat is white and super moist.

Well, its not so much question as to whether you COULD, but as to how they would taste etc - I guess. Of course you could - but I shouldn't think they'd taste that great.

How about you adopt them yourself, or give them to a friend, or maybe even put a large discount on them and advertise them more??
