...Vincent Price. He was marvelous. "The Masque of the Red Death," "House of Wax" and "House on Haunted Hill" and so many more.
I also like the good old fashioned scary movies like "The Haunting of Hill House" (lots of classic "no, don’t go in there alone, you idiot!" moments) and "Them!" (Giant radioactive mutant ants, yes!) and "Two Thousand Maniacs" ("Brigadoon" meets the Mansion Family - would you like some more barbecue?)
In terms of more recent films, I think "The Shining" is the best - "Heeeeere’s Johnny!" "Redrum! Redrum! Redrum!"
However I also like The Omen (1976), "Poltergeist," "Carrie, "The Bad Seed," the original "The Thing" and "The Sixth Sense."
And then of course there is "Psycho." I couldn’t shower for weeks after the first time I saw that one.
And last but not least, even though it isn't really all that scary bit it is beautifully filmed, there is Tim Burton's "Sleepy Hollow" with Johnny Depp. The tree of blood is great and so is the horseman. I love the fact that that movie contains Christopher Walken's first ever on-screen kiss, with pointed teeth no less.
