Any good cycling clubs in North London?

Hi, I am 16 years old and live in North London. I would like to join a road cycling club (possibly with a team) so I can improve my riding and get experience of riding in a group. No one that I know, knows of a cycling club, and I have used the British Cycling club finder but if anyone on here is in one or knows of any good ones with a junior team, I would appreciate an answer.

Thanks

Update:

Thanks for the great answer, to be more specific, I live in the borough of Barnet (N11) , but I cannot find that many clubs in the area that are more for junior riders.

You don't specify which area of North London you live in, it might be necessary for you to travel a little outside your immediate area. You will need to contact a club first to see if they offer the type of racing that you want but, in England you will be an individual member of the "Club" first, and the member of a "team" if at least two of you enter a road race together, second. You will also need to purchase a racing licence without which you will not be allowed to race.

Finsbury Park Cycling Club, London. Whether you are looking for Club based racing, or looking for Sunday and weekend rides, there should be something for you in the Park!

Although London Phoenix is a new club many members have long experience of racing in and around London. You can expect to find Phoenix riders taking part in National, regional and local events.

The Haringey Cycling Club is a youth development club based in Wood Green, North London. The club is for ages 11 and up and is focused on developing potential cycling and triathlon talent.

Many Club members are involved in racing, on the road, time trialling, on the track, in cyclo-cross and on mountain bikes. Members range from Schoolboys and Girls from 8 years old to Veterans of over 40 years of age. There are coaching facilities available at all levels for all branches of the sport.

The Club has several coaches to whom Members can turn to for help, and during the dark winter months, on Club night, additional training is provided via coached turbo sessions held at Clubroom - useful not just for the racing cyclist, but for those who are keen to do challenge events (for example - the London to Brighton bike ride).

I don't know that there are any cycle "racing clubs" specifically for juniors and personally I would not think they would be a very good idea, you only learn from older riders, not from riders of your own age, riding with older riders is where you learn riding and racing skills and technique and increase your overall ability and fitness, almost all clubs have junior members, it's only through the junior members that clubs can survive long term, eventually the juniors become the respected seniors who then pass their knowledge and experience on to the "new" juniors, and so the "cycle" continues. I think you are looking for something that does not exist, look for a good all round local cycle club that will give you the opportunity to learn the sport amongst all ages of rider, I'm sure they will have other riders of a similar age to you. Good luck, and enjoy your cycling.

Here is a list of all the cycling clubs in the North London District, they are spread over quite a wide area and if you are primarily interested in road racing, you will need to ask if they have road racing members, or only time-trialists.
