what does the saying "with a grain of salt" mean?
for example, "I'd take that with a grain of salt" what does this mean?

Salt does not weigh much, so you should not put too much "weight" in what was given.
For example: ... but thats only my opinion so you should take it with a grain of salt (translated: ... but thats only by opinion so don't invest too much or weigh it more heavily compared to others)
Thats how I have always taken that phrase.

It means that you don't take it seriously -- you view it with scepticism.

Don't assume that it is a true statement.
