Why does the Tea Party oppose Net Neutrality?

According to this story ( http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/13/tea-party... ), the Tea Party opposes Net Neutrality. Why?

Update:

Specifically, how is Net Neutrality an "assault on individual liberty"?

1 - We have freedom of speech in this country.

2 - Who is to say what is "neutral?" Who makes the decisions? Would you be so happy about the idea if the other side were in power?

3 - There are always more than two sides to a story.

Yes, many in the TEA Party oppose Net Neutrality and rightfully so. The government seems to regulate just about everything else, do we want them sticking their noses in the Internet?..

internet neutrality is the very definition of cyber web freedom. I also have a feeling their opinion on it somewhat is misinformed through fact opposing it via no potential is encouraging freedom on the cyber web.

Why does the govt need to come in and make the net 'fair'????

Anytime the govt says they're leveling the playing field, it mean they have silence one group, in favor of another.

"Specifically, they're against it. The head of one Tea Party organization says she is concerned that the policy would increase government regulation and power, calling net neutrality one of many "assaults on individual liberties."

It's because they don't understand it. They complain about "liberal mainstream media" but what do you think will happen when it's controlled by corporations? When 3 ISP also own Fox, CNN and MSNBC?

Bill Hates, how will you like it if it takes infowars 5 or 10 minutes to load up while Fox News.com or CNN take seconds? That's what happens WITHOUT it. You won't be able to get to websites

  • The internet is just fine like it is.

It requires absolutely NO regulation by government goons.

  • "The internet is just fine like it is. "

Funny internet companies don't think so, and want you to pay for it like you pay for Cable, on a site by site basis.
