Why are nurses so dumb? (they just don't understand blood gases)?

I am a med student and was told by a nurse today that I should be concerned about my patient because his blood gas was "not quite right"! He had an oxygen of 11 kPa - BANG NORMAL and had just the tiniest elevation of lacatate (4.1mmol/l). Plus I was already giving him high flow oxygen anyway. Plus I was already giving him high flow oxygen anyway. Why can't they just accept that they didn't get into med school?
