My opinion is ~ "There is absolutely no way to tell."
People are willfully ignoring the bits about the apocalypse that say "No man shall know the hour" and "He shall come like a theif in the night".
Every age of man has wanted to believe they are living in the 'end times'. It's conversion by 'faith through fear' and it's false faith, and false faith is no faith at all. These subjective 'signs' are based on subjective 'evidence' from subjective 'prophecy' done *after* the fact. People should be a lot less concerened with the world ending and that being the only reason that they are good, and be a lot more concerned with just being good to begin with.
"Oh, the world is ending, you better convert now just in case!" "JUST IN CASE? Well, absolutely then! I totally repent, you know, just in case you are right and I end up dieing with the rest of the world tomorrow." ~ That is not faith at all. That is not true belief.
The 'signs of the apocalypse' are a lot more likely to be so subtle as to be unnoticeable as we are not intended to know or even begin to guess when it's supposed to happen. It could happen ANY TIME. And, that any time could be another 1,000 years from now. What does it matter that the world may or may not end next week if you are living a good life now?
ADD EDIT : And, I am done with hearing the whole "all the natural disasters happening now and all the human suffering is proof". Just because I can click a button and find out ALL AT ONCE what is going on across the globe (And all at once of course making it look much bigger and more daunting then one at a time) doesn't mean that these disasters and tragedies haven't always been happening in the same degree. I may be able to hear about a tsunami and an earthquake happening close to one another, but 500 years ago there could have been a tsunami and an earthquake happening AT THE SAME TIME and no one heard of either of them. Don't confuse the knowledge about events for that being the only time those events could have happened. 500 years ago there could have been a catastrophic earthquake in Washington, and a Volcano blow up in the islands, and a tsunami hit the coast of finland, and if I lived in Australia I wouldn't have heard about any of them. Just because I can hear about them now doesn't mean they haven't always been present.
