Knowledge on nutrient cycles will help you decide on what crops are best produce on a certain period of time. You will also learn what nutrients are needed by the crops so that you can provide it if it is lacking. You can also evaluate the area in which you may think is suitable for the optimum growth of the crops. Knowledge on the biochemistry of the plants will help you figure out how plants grow thus you will also know how plants die. And since you want to improve crop productivity, of course you will not let the plants die. And simple knowledge on everything won't kill you and the plants. It will broaden your horizon. Being smart is cool.
