Pressurize vs. Pressure?

Since I've started living in the UK I've noticed on television people using the word "pressurize" in the context "Such and such person is pressurizing me." I would normally think that the word "pressuring" would fit in there better, and it sounds more grammatically accurate to me.
Is this the case, or is it one of those Aluminum-Aluminium things?
