whats the difference between an ethernet patch cable and an ethernet crossover cable?

    ethernet patch cable is the cable you use from pc to modem,the crossover cable is from computer to computer

    The only difference is that pins 1&3 and 2&6 are reversed. Crossover cables are used to connect two devices together directly (computer, switch, router).

    They are basic Cat 5 or Cat 6 cable

    crossover connects 2 computers, directly , no need for hub

    most hubs/switches, auto sense if your using a crossover, and put it right for you
