My concern is - where is the line between government agencies (CIA, FBI, Military, Police) and the citizenry? Since when is it up to the prevailing social wind to determine how to protect our country? Current public opinion should not be the deciding factor on what techniques are used to obtain information vital to national security. It is the business of the elected officials at the time, including the Congress, who in the case of 'torture' defined it during the Bush administration.
If you don't like what is going on, you vote for other people, but in the meantime, you rely on the judgment of those in office at the time. The following administration has no business hind-sighting and prosecuting what any former administration has done regarding national security - especially since it was effective.
Also, Congress CANNOT be prosecuted, so if they agreed to something, those following it should also not be prosecuted.
I still say let dead dogs alone! We were safe since 9/11 - and it is not anyone's business how that happened. This witch-hunt is stupid - if they begin this, they might as well hunt down every operative that is still living and prosecute them for advice they were given by both Democratic and Republican advisers.
You liberals now have your man in power. Why don't you just concern yourselves with what he is doing now and will do in the future. I think it might be interesting if he sets this precedent, to see what he will be prosecuted for after his 1 term is over - how about treason? Sounds good to me!
