Can life peerages be bought? For example the title of a Baroness?

    Not officially.

    As long as they have no voting rights I would sell them to any idiot who is prepared to donate cash to the nation for the sake of a meaningless title.

    yes some titles can be bought, I saw this on UK TV.

    the reason for buying the title was that it was reasonably cheap because the person selling didn't see any value in it and didn't get any income from it.

    But there was an entitlement to charge rents for lands that went with the title which the new owner decided to enforce legally earning them cash.
