Whats the difference between a 'Chorely Cake' and an 'Eccles Cake' ?

    It's to do with the pastry. An Eccles cake has very buttery, flakey puff pastry wheras a Chorley cake has more of a shortcrust case. Chorley cakes are also flatter, and delicious when spread with a bit of butter, in my experience.

    eccles cakes are sweeter. I don't like either, it's like having a mouth full of feathers.

    Am from lancashire too, but prefer bakewell tarts.
