The future of the NHL clearly lies in a european expansion. Imagine the excitement if London, Paris, Moscow, Berlin, Prague were in the league instead of Raleigh, Nashville, Colombus, etc.(why the hell does Florida have two nhl clubs!?), where hockey will never be popular. By expanding in Europe, you make european players more interested in playing in the league, you truly become international, the best professional hockey league on earth! Fans would love it, players would enjoy it, and it would broaden the hockey culture, bring in new dynamics and new ideas. It would also stop the hemorrhage of players exiting the NHL to play in russian or european leagues. Why do the destinies of the league have to rest in the hands of mr. static himself, Gary Bettman... A small committee deciding for everyone, stubbornly applying policies that have very well proven to be ineffective in the States (just take the tv rights for the nhl as an example...). There are other doors to knock on, and the league needs this transitions to have a bright and exciting future!
